About

The music scene in New York City during the 1940's was very robust. Broadway was staging the works of great American composers like Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Rodgers and Hart, Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, Kurt Weil, Oscar Hammerstein, Leonard Bernstein, to name a few. Many of the songs from these musicals became popular and were recorded as singles by a variety of singers and instrumentalists. Join the FIU Faculty Jazz Faculty and vocalist Lisanne Lyons as they perform renditions of these classics like “Lover Man”from 1942, which was introduced by the great Billie Holiday.
